Sahlberg the grand champion in Malmoe

Magnus Sahlberg cleaned house when he went to the Swedish GP Tournament in Malmö last weekend. He partcipated in all 3 categories and won 2 out of 3 categories. He entered the tournament unseeded in men’s singles and in his quarterfinal beat 2nd seed Felix Burestedt in 3 sets. In the final he went up agains another FUKUDA Pro Team player, 4th seed Adam Khan, who lost to Sahlberg in 2 close sets (21-19, 21-19). In the men’s doubles he entered the tournament as 1st seed together with Emil Welinder and they went through to the final with ease. They also won the final in straight sets (21-15, 21-14). In the mixed double he was seeded 1st together with Cecilia Bjunér. They played their way into the final but didn’t manage to go all they way and lost the finalin 2 sets.

Italian Junior International 2014- Monday, March 31, 2014

Peñalver wins in Italy

Luis Enrique Peñalver played the 2014 Italian Junior International. He reached the quarterfinal in the men's singles and in the men's doubles category together with Suarez Javier it went very well. They entered the tournament as a 5/8 seed and in the 3rd round the beat the 2nd seeds in two straight sets. After a fairly easy semifinal they were up against another 5/8 seeded pair from Belgium. After a 3 set match (16-21, 21-13, 21-19) Javier and Peñalver stood as the victors of the 2014 Italian Junior International.

Abian wins in France

Pablo Abian participated in the 2014 edition of French International and played a very good tournament. He entered the tournament as the 4th seed but with several tough lower ranked asian players in the roster it looked to be a tough tournament. In his 2nd round Abian faced the 7th seed from Malaysia who was sent home in straight sets. In his semifinal it was time for the next one, 5th seeded indonesian player who on his way to the final knocked 1st seed Brice Leverdez from the tournament. Pablo won his semifinal rather comfortably in straight sets. In the final he went up against 3rd seed Vladimir Malkov of Russia. After 3 close sets (21-16, 19-21, 22-20) Pablo stood as the winner of the 2014 French International

Swedish U17 National Championships

The Swedish U17 National Championships were played this past weekend and most of the up and coming FUKUDA players were playing the tournament. The strongest performance was delievered by Daniel Gholiof who reach the semifinal in the men's singles, where he lost to the winner of the tournament Morgan Lidman. Daniel also reac hthe semifinal in the men's doubles together with Viktor Aglinder where they lost to Linus and Rasmus Norberg Törn.

Swedish U19 National Championships

When the Swedish U19 National Championships were played a couple of FUKUDA young and promising players were part of the tournament. The strongest performance was delivered by Lovisa Johansson in the ladies singles category where she reached the final. In the final Clara Nistad proved to be the stronger player today and Lovisa had to settle for a Silver medal.

Marcus Gillesén reached a 1/4 final in the mixed doubles together with Johanna Magnusson and Martin Norrman and Rasmus Bjerkander reached a 1/4 final in the men's doubles as well.

Hurskainen reclaims the men's singles crown

Early february and it was time for the Swedish National Chmpionships as usual. We had all of our Pro Team Sweden players entering the tournament this time and they all performed well and made for a strong brand presence at the event. Hurskainen reinstated himself as the swedish men's singles champion after a repeat of last years final. Opponent was once again Gabriel Ulldahl but this time Hurskainen stood as the winner after a close 3 set match. Amanda Wallin reached the semifinal in mixed doubles and also brought home a silver medel in the ladies doubles category. The tournament was played with FUKUDA Silver Label. A big thank you from the FUKUDA staff that was present during the tournament to Bohuslan-Dal regional federation for a well planned and executed tournament.

Pontus Rengbo U19 Swedish Champion!

Pontus Rengbo represention Malmö SRC club won the Swedish U19 championships in squash in Skellefteå. Pontus entered the tournament as the 1st seed and went on to winning all of his 4 matches and in the end standing as the winner of the tournament

Swedish Masters 2014- Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Hurskainen and Abian face off in Swedish Masters!

The past weekend the 2014 edition of the Swedish Masters was played in Uppsala Sweden. Hurskainen was seeded 2nd but it was initially uncertain if he could participate due to a troubling achillies tendon but when the Tournament started he was in the roster and went through the 2 first round with relative ease. In his quarter final he need 3 sets (21-14, 18-21, 24-22) to beat Rasmus Fladberg. On the same side of the draw was another FUKUDA players, Pablo Abian that was 5/8 seeded. Abian managed his quarterfinal against Eetu Heino easily (21-19, 21-16) and now it was time for the two FUKUDA players to go up against eachother in the semifinal. It turned into a 3 set fight with Hurskainen winning the opening set with 21-17 and then Abian grabbing second set 15-21. 3rd set turned into a close one with Hurskainen emerging as the winner with 21-19. In the final Hurskainen went up against 1st seed Ville Lang of Finland. Same as in the semifinal the final went on to 3 sets where Hurskainen had a commanding lead at 17-11 but unfortunately Ville delivered a very strong comeback at this point and in the end winning the set 21-19.

Peñalver reaches final in Poland- Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Peñalver reaches final in Poland!

One of our promising U19 players of Pro Team Spain went to Poland this past weekend to play the Polish Junior Open and he did very well for himself. Luis Enrique Peñalver entered the tournament unseeded so he hard a tough tournament ahead of him. In his second round he was up against 2nd seed Wolfgang Gnedt who was sent home in straight sets (21-13, 21-19). In the 3rd round a 5/8 seeded polack was waiting and he was also beaten in sets (21-15, 21-14).  In his semifinal a 5/8 german player was waiting but he had to bow down to the spanish player as well after a 21-16, 21-12 loss. In the final it was time for the last remaining german player in the men's singels tournament, 1st seed Max Weisskirchen, in the end he proved to much for Luis that day and won in 3 sets (21-19, 12-21, 21-16). Still a very strong performance finishing 2nd and sending 4 seeded players home on his way to rhe final!

Abian wins Welsh Open!

Pablo Abian had a good tour in the UK and Ireland. It started with a very good performance in the Welsh Open. Pablo entered the tournament unseeded and in his second match faced 4th seed Joachim Persson of Denmark. Persson was sent home after 2 straight sets (21-17, 21-7). Pablo then went through to the semifinals beating an indonesian player in his quarterfinal. In the semifinal 8th seed Flemming Quach was the opponent and he was also conquered in 2 straight sets (21-12. 21-13). In the final it was time for another dane, unseeded Christian Lind Tomsen. 1st set was a clear win for the dane and the 2nd set an even one with Pablo being the winner and the 3rd set was a clear win for Pablo. Big congratualtions to Pablo for his first title in 2013. After Wales it was time for the Irish Open where Pablo in the first round beat Gabriel Ulldahl of Sweden in straight sets, in the 2nd round it was time for 1st seed Ville Lang of Finland where it took Palbo 3 even sets to proceed to the next round where the 7th seed from Sri Lanka was sent packing after 2 sets. In the semifinal Pablo went up against Dieter Domke of Germany who proved to be the stronger player this day and winning in 2 sets.
