Pontus Rengbo swedish U19 squash champion

The Swedish U19 squash championships was recently played at Enskede Rackethall in Stockholm. 1st year U19 Pontus Rengbo (to the right in the picture) entered the tournament as the top seed of his group and also won the group. He then went on the the playoff round where he won his first match and in his second once again faced Björn Angtoft and Pontus came out on top after a close 5 game match with the final game ending 15-13.

Magnus Sahlberg delivers a strong performance in Turkey

A the International Series tournament in Turkey one of the Swedish Pro Team players did very well for himself. Magnus Sahlberg playing men’s doubles with Matthias Wigardt. In their second match they beat first seeds from Austria in 3 sets and in their semifinal they beat the russian 3rd seed pair. In the final they went up against 4th seeds from Scotland / Malaysia which proved to be to tough this time making Magnus and Matthias earn a runner up spot in the tournament. Magnus also did well in the mixed doubles going through the qualification and then reaching the quarterfinal where they lost 3 close sets to the 1st seeds and eventual winners from Ireland.

Pro Team players victorious in Swedish Grand Prix tournament- Monday, December 17, 2012

Swedish Grand Prix domination by Pro Team players

A couple of the Pro Team Sweden players went to Halmstad this past weekend to play in one of the tournaments of the Swedish Grand Prix circuit. On Sunday it was clear the they did very well, winning 3 classes of the 5 and finishing 2nd in two. Magnus Sahlberg was the big winner this weekend winning the mixed doubles with Cecilia Bjunér and then winning the men’s double with Jonathan Nordh. Ellinor Widh went on to beat Christine Pettersson in the ladies singles final winning that category. Amanda Wallin won the mixed doubles silver together with Patrik Lundqvist and she also won the silver medel in ladies doubles togetther with Lousie Eriksson.

Nanna Carleke, ladies under 16 world champion- Monday, December 10, 2012

Nanna Carleke, U16 world champion in Racketlon

Nanna Carleke, 14 years old, went to Stockholm to play the under 16 World Championships in Racketlon. Nanna who had previously not competed in Racketlon entered the tournament without any kind of ranking. Nanna is FUKUDA sponsored for her badmitnon and squash talents but obvisouly she can handle herself in tennis and table tennis as well. In her semifinal Nanna faced world no 4 ranked Bettina Bugl from Austria. After loss in the table tennis Nanna scored two big wins in the badminton and squash categories and after a 5 point lead in the tennismatch it was over for Bettina, she had no chance of catching up. In the final against Linda Rohrer Nanna won the table tennis, badminton and squash so convincing that there was never a need for the tennis category, she had already won and stood as the world champion for ladies under 16. With Nanna only being 14 she still has 2 years left in the under 16 category so she has the chance to defended her title as well..

Swedish Senior National team in Bulgaria

The Swedish Senior national team played the European championships in Sofia, Bulgaria this past weekend and as a team they delivered a very strong performance. 5th in the overall medal league with a total of 1 gold medal and 3 bronze medals. The Swedish team was playing in their custom made navy blue / yellow poloshirts & tracksuits from FUKUDA with swedish flag embroidery.

Nico Ruponen victorious in Kharkov!

Nico Ruponen playing with Amanda Högström won the Kharkov International Challenge tournament that was played this past weekend. They entered the tournament unseeded and on their way to the final they beat the 2nd seeded french pair. Inthe final they went up against another french pair, Mittelheisser / Lefel. After a 3 set battle (23-21, 10-21, 21-16) the swedish pair stood as the winners. This was the pairs first international title which is a good start to a partnership that only started 2 months ago,

Mixed doubles final in Venezuela Open

Maria Vijande and Oscar Martinez of FUKUDA Pro Team Spain went to Venezuela to play the Open International there and delivered a very good performance in the mixed doubles reaching the final after beating the 2nd seeds in straight sets in their semifinal. The final was a very close match resulting in a win for Rampersad / Guzman in 3 sets (23-21, 19-21, 22-20)

1st Swedish GP Tournament 2012 a big success!

The first 2012 Swedish Grand Prix circuit tournament was played last weekend in Stockholm. 4 swedish Pro Team players entered tournament and delivered a very strong performance. Magnus Sahlberg reached a semifinal in men’s doubles together with Mathias Wigardt and reached the final in mixed doubles together with Cecilia Bjunér. Jenny Wan won the ladies singles by beating Christine Petterson in the final. Nico Ruponen was the most victorious Pro Team player this weeked winning the men’s doubles together with fellow Pro Team player Joel Johansson Berg and then also winning the mixed doubles together with Amanda Högström. A very strong performance on what was for many the first tournament of the season.

Semifinal in Canada Open for Hurskainen

Henri Hurskainen entered the Canada Open as the 1st seed and went through to his quarter final with ease. In the quarterfinal Sattawat Pongnairat was conquered in 2 straight sets. In his semifinal Hurskainen went up against Lin Yu Hsien of Chinese Taipei who stood as the victor after 3 close sets.
